THE VERB TO BE - Il verbo essere

The verb “to be” in Italian is called VERBO ESSERE.

Here we have the full conjugation in the present tense:

IO SONO

TU SEI

LUI È

LEI È

NOI SIAMO

VOI SIETE

LORO SONO

The 1st person singular and the 3rd person plural (IO SONO and LORO SONO) are the same.

Remember to put the accent on the È of the verb, to avoid confusion with the simple E without accent, which means “and”.
